Basic Info about Lekanicks

Description

The lekanick were inspired by dogs, lions, horses, and bighorn sheep. I picture them living in the Himalayan Mountains, and in the past they could have lived as far west from there as Turkey. They are not chimeras, but they could have been an inspiration for the myths.

Lekanick is a closed species.

This means you cannot just create a new Lekanick. They must be bred by a member of Lecanequo-iubatos, or you can get a new "import" from me. Custom Imports are also available. All members of Lecanequo-iubatos can get a FREE Custom Lekanick, but there are a few restrictions explained in this journal.

This is the basic version of the lekanick info. There is also more in-depth information that refers to them as an actual animal.

Lifespan: Lekanicks are never required to die, but they eventually get too old to have another litter. Female lekanicks become infertile at 1 year old. Males become infertile at 1 year and 6 months old.
Height: males: 38" - 45" | females: 33" - 42" at the shoulder
Weight: males: 175 - 215 lbs | females: 125 - 165 lbs

Human / Lekanick Size Ref

Diet: Carnivore
Mouth: Their teeth are canine (specifically wolf) like. Their tongue is a dull pink or red color.

Communication: A variety of barks, whines, and growls very similar to the sounds canines make. They do not howl. They also use the same body language as canines.

Movement: Their legs have the same joints and range of motion as horses.

Eyesight: Great at detecting movement; can see the same range of colors as humans; struggle to see in the dark.

Reproduction: Lekanicks are not necessarily mono- or polygamous. The number of mates a lekanick has in it's life depends greatly on the personality of the individual. Females can only have 1 litter each month. Males can breed whenever as long as they are not too young or too old.

Genetics
These are links to deviations further explaining the genetics of lekanicks. A lekanick's genes are very important because, like a real animal, they determine what it looks like. Lekanicks are not allowed to have random appearances.

Genetics: Black and Dilution/Brown/Silver/Cream
Genetics: Red Extension and Gray
Genetics: Agouti and Agouti Modifier
Genetics: Merle
Genetics: Dun
Genetics: Roan
Genetics: Leopard Complex
Genetics: White Spotting and Ticking
Genetics: Red Intensity and Silver/Cream/Urajiro
Genetics: Feathering
Genetics: Eye Color

Lekanicks also have many mutations, but you should look at the normal genes first.

I highly recommend checking out this website. It's about dogs, but it is well written, has basic info about genetics, and lekanicks have many genes that are similar to dogs.

A Lekanicks genotype should be written out in this order.
